The Maine Street Yoga Mission
Our yoga studio and it's instructors embody the teachings of masters such as Iyengar (alignment), Pattabi Jois (ashtanga), John Friend (Anusara), Bryan Kest (Power), Alan Finger (ISHTA), Shiva Rea (vinyasa) and Judith Lasater (relax and renew). With over 16 years of experience our goal is to provide an environment to nurture, inspire and encourage our students of all levels and ages to improve focus, breathing, strength, balance and relaxation to be your best self.

Beginner/Int Yoga
Yoga for the beginning student to advanced student this class fosters breathing techniques with proper alignment to improve strength, flexibility, balance, state-of-mind and overall wellness. Beginner/Int yoga will challenge any level in a fun-loving environment. Relaxation and meditation techniques will be taught.

Gentle/Beginner Yoga
Great for first time and advanced yoga students alike, Gentle/Beginner Yoga is one of the most gentlest forms of yoga available. Yoga props such as a mat, strap, block, blanket and a chair are used to improve overall wellness. Practiced in an environment of loving-kindness, Gentle/Beginner Yoga is proven to improve breathing, flexibility, strength and focus and specifically, has helped stress, anxiety, arthritis and chronic pain. The restorative aspect of this style encourages peace of mind and a greater sense of balance and relaxation.

Yoga for Veterans
Taught by Veteran, Joe Palma, Yoga for Veterans introduces breathing, stretching, balancing and strengthening techniques complimented by props such as mats, blocks, straps and a chair for improved inner and outer balance, peace-of-mind, and joy. Class is by donation only.

Kids Yoga Workshop, Friday, December 2
School, hockey, soccer, dance and more, yoga for the "young athlete" was designed specifically to improve breathing, strength, flexibility, concentration, focus and self esteem. Children learn tools to release stress and breathe effectively which will ultimately lead to greater body comfort and control and stress reduction. The group session fosters camaraderie. Fee of $5/ child, class time is 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Yoga & Meditation Workshop, Saturday, December 3:
Great for beginners and "advanced" practitioners, yoga techniques and tools will be taught to improve and balance the self. Asanas (poses) to create greater body comfort will be taught in preparation for a guided meditation. Benefits of yoga and meditation include a stronger immune system, more physical and mental balance and peace-of-mind. Fee of $20 includes 1-hour workshop, hand-made "eye" pillow and additional class "pass" to use another day. RSVP: 207.208.8444 or achin1@verizon.net.
